Chapter 1: The World of Human Resources ManagementYour Job ProspectsYou have read frequently that the jobs of today will not be like the
jobs of tomorrow. For example, many service jobs, such as those found
in call centres or even legal services can now be outsourced to countries
such as India, where the English-speaking and well-educated labour force
can provide the same level of service for about one tenth of the cost
of a Canadian worker. Any job that can be automated or outsourced is at
risk. At this point, you probably have some general ideas about what kind
of work you would like to do.
