Chapter 12: Safety and Health

Exercise 12-1

You are planning to open a fast food restaurant. In your business plan, you’ve identified that over 80% of your employees will be part-time, high school aged workers. One of the big questions your investors have raised is about protecting the health and safety of your workforce.

Use the resources at http://www.iapa.ca/resources/resources_downloads.asp to develop a health and safety program that is specially suited for your young workforce.

Exercise 12-2

Visit the web site for the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety at www.ccohs.ca From their links page, select information about a current workplace health and safety issue that interests you.

Prepare a one-page written summary of the information you find including:

  • the URL
  • your evaluation of the usefulness of the information provided
  • any additional links that could be used to collect additional information on your topic.
